Barbara McCurtis, 1st Sgt USMC (Ret)

Barbara retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years of service. She became the Museum Director of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Command Museum in San Diego.

Mani Santos, Chief Warrant Officer 2 USMC (Ret)

Mani Santos is originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico. She began her Marine Corps career as a MP (MOS 5811, and was one of the first three women Marine MP's in the 1st Marine Division when she was there (1978-1982). She was one of the first women to complete Los Angeles SWAT training as a member of the military police force aboard Camp Pendleton. In 1990, Mani became the first woman Warrant Officer Corrections Officer in the Marine Corps. 

With talent and skills in volleyball, she was a member on the All Marine Volleyball team (five times!!) and once on the All Services Volleyball team. Mani retired after 20 years of service. 

Chapter Secretary


​Chaplain Babs is an Episcopal Priest who has served in the San Diego Diocese as a member of the Bishop’s Advocacy Committee with a focus on outreach to local military personnel and families, the Cursillo Secretariat, and the Disciplinary Committee.  She also assists at Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church and has recently been a volunteer chaplain at the Navy Consolidated Brig Miramar, a coed prison for active duty military men and women. She worked many years in healthcare chaplaincy, primarily in the Department of Veterans Affairs, and was the Director of the Chaplain Service at the VA San Diego Healthcare System when she retired in 2007.  Her career in healthcare included specializations in Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical Ethics, and End of Life and Spiritual Care.  She was trained in Critical Incident Stress Management, and was called with other chaplains to New York in September 2001 as a member of the Episcopal Church’s 100 Days Support Mission helping congregations dealing with unusual grief and stress. 

Babs has been our Chaplain in since 2014.  She has become very dear to us in the spiritual growth of our chapter. She serves us as the Sunshine committee Chairperson. If you know of a member or veteran in need of our support please let her know.
